PUMPKIN PATCHES in Ireland 2019
Having picked your Halloween event, you’re next step is to visit a pumpkin patch to select the perfect pumpkin to carve. What kind of Halloween would it be without one?!
Carving pumpkins is a popular Halloween tradition that originated hundreds of years ago in Ireland. Back then, however, families made jack-o’-lanterns out of turnips or potatoes; it wasn’t until Irish immigrants arrived in America and discovered the pumpkin and a new Halloween ritual was born.
A visit to a pumpkin patch and getting your own pumpkin straight from the farm can be nearly as exciting as the Halloween night itself. Your kids will love the chance to pick, design and carve their own pumpkin. You can read up on some interesting pumpkin facts to make the visit even more fun.
It’s a perfect autumn family day out to get everybody into the Halloween spirit.
Don’t forget it’s an outdoor event on a farm, it can get muddy ! We highly recommend to wear wellies and outdoor clothes.
We have rounded up the TOP 6 places across Ireland where you can pick up your own pumpkin and have loads of fun with the kids.
