Lingotot South Dublin Language School
Language Learning Made Fun!
Lingotot South Dublin Language School teaches Spanish and French classes to children up to 6th class or age 12 in the community, primary schools and nurseries. Our tried and tested language programmes were written by Angela Sterling, Lingotot founder and fully qualified teacher. Angela has a keen interest in languages research and worked for Newcastle and Southampton universities researching language acquisition at different ages.
The award-winning Lingotot classes make use of active, communicative and interactive teaching methods which come naturally to young learners. Learning is through songs, stories, games, drama and play.
We provide children with a support booklet to work on and we monitor the child’s progress each term.
We speak mainly in the foreign language but our skills and expertise ensure everyone understands. Children have so much fun they don’t realise they are learning!
The benefits of early language learning
There are so many benefits to knowing a second language. Travelling is the obvious one. There is also understanding of other cultures, ability to enjoy films, books and music from different countries. Learning additional languages enables learners to engage with people of diverse cultures in ways that recognise differences and create cultural understanding. Language is inseparable from ways of knowing the world and involves connecting, engaging, and interacting with others and negotiating boundaries.
There are many advantages which are less obvious.
Knowing two languages can give you all-round intellectual benefits. Being multilingual improves school performance and increases overall problem-solving skills. Research also suggests bilingual children are more creative than monolingual speakers and score higher on academic tests. It’s also been suggested that bilingual toddlers have better concentration too.
Lingotot South Dublin Language School – Tutors
Sofia Colás runs Lingotot South Dublin Language School. Born in Madrid to Spanish and German parents, she grew up in a trilingual household and has lived in Madrid, The Netherlands, Canada and London. It’s not surprising languages are a huge part of her life! After a long stint in the corporate world in London, followed by a career break to raise a family, she set up Lingotot South Dublin in 2018 and has found a fulfilling role for herself which works around family life. With three young children of her own, she’s passionate about the early language learning benefits for young children and making this as fun as possible in her classes.
Sofia is joined by Lingotot qualifed tutors and native speakers Barbara Bravo, Blanca Garcia-Bouza and Marie Lépinoux.

Little Lingotots Language School Core Curriculum (up to age 6)
Our littlest learners absorb a new language easily while doing everyday things they love such as playing, singing, pretend play, movement & dancing, stories and crafts….but all in a new language! Our core curriculum focuses on learning about themselves, their day and where they go when they are out and about! The learning is supported each term by a colourful booklet which provides home support too. We currently teach the Lingotot Core Curriculum French and Spanish.
Lingotot Key Stage 2 Curriculum (ages 7-12)
Lingotot South Dublin offers beginners and improvers Spanish and French language classes with qualified native or fluent teachers. We also cater for different age ranges : from 1st to 3rd classes and from 4th to 6th classes.
You can be rest assured that our programme is of the highest quality as our Key Stage 2 programme is fully accredited by internationally recognised NCFE CACHE (an OfQual regulated awarding body) . This ensures that we help the children progress in their language learning journey whilst still enjoying themselves.
The Lingotot programme is widely used across primary schools in the UK as part of their Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) primary curriculum. In Ireland, Lingotot teaches the same programme, albeit an afterschool setting!
LingoStars – Language learning through storytelling, drama and performance
At LingoStars drama clubs, our older Lingotots learn through drama, movement, music, play and performance – all in another language! Each programme centres on a well-known children’s story and children work towards an end of term performance including acting and songs. Even the most timid of children can blossom in confidence working in small groups towards their big performance.
We don’t leave the parents out
In our toddler sessions, we teach the adults who attend at the same time as the children and you don’t have to have any prior knowledge of a language. Trust us to lead the whole family through your language-learning journey with our tips on how to continue at home. We will never put you on the spot or ask anyone to speak until they are ready!
Start your child’s language journey today!
With all of the benefits of learning another language, the question shouldn’t be “why should my child learn a second language?”, rather it should be “can my child afford not to learn another language?”
Take that first step…
Research suggests that children who know two languages can gain an academic and social advantage over those who speak only one. Children have an amazing ability to learn language and this happens best when it is interactive, engaging and child-centered. Come along to one of our classes to see natural language learning in practice!
Use the Contact Us form below or the phone number on the top of the page to book your language classes. Sofia and the team will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
